Brecon Beacons

A few weeks ago Ash & I went for a long weekend camping in the Brecon Beacons.

We stayed at a lovely site called Priory Mill Farm, just outside of Brecon.

It was nice and quiet when we arrived on Thursday so we were able to pick the perfect spot by the river.

Although the campsite was just off a major road it was really quiet and the site was simple but well equipped, with very clean amenities.

On the other side of the stream was a footpath which you could access by walking a short way up the road.

On Friday we had a lazy morning then walked in to Brecon. We visited the cathedral, tried to find the castle then wandered through town before stopping in a dog friendly tap house, Brecon Tap.

Saturday looked like the best day weather wise for walking so unfortunately we had the crowds to contend with, however although there were A LOT of cars parked all along the road at the bottom of Pen y Fan the actual footpaths weren’t too bad.

We were just going to do this loop up to Pen y Fan & Corn Du but then once we were up there we decided to continue on to Cribyn, and then once we were at Cribyn we decided Fan y Big didn’t look too far away either.

We decided to call it a day there and head back home, happy with ticking off 4 of the major peaks of the Brecon Beacons.

I’ve never been before and it’s somewhere I’ve wanted to explore for ages so it was a great day of walking.

We headed back to the campsite and I picked up pizza from La Belle for tea.

Sunday it was time to pack up and go and we had heard that there was a Smallholding Show on at the Royal Welsh Showground so headed there on the way home.

It was a nice show with some gundog scurries, stalls, plenty of livestock to see and my favourite display… The Quack Pack!!

It was a lovely long weekend with just the right mixture of chilling out and doing stuff.

Zebby was really relaxed and settled in to campsite life very easily.

We took his crate incase he didn’t settle and he did use it but certainly didn’t need shutting in it. I thought it would be impossible for him to fit on a camp bed with me but he found a way and we did spend some of the night cuddled up together. 😁

A perfect break with my 3 boys.
