My Agility Playlist

I love music. I don’t know how to explain it properly but I get such a strong connection from music to emotions. A song can have me in tears, make me feel on top of the world or get me pumped for a hard workout that I’d otherwise struggle with. I can’t drive in silence.

I started listening to music while walking courses after Mark Laker talked about it in a Sports Psychology seminar. It acts as a perfect bullshit filter, plus tends to stop people talking to you and therefore interrupting your focus on the task in hand. I don’t think we get it so bad when walking G1-2 courses, but there’s nothing worse than hearing “oh this is hard”, “that’s mean”, “I think I’m going to cross here” while you’re trying to keep positive and decide how to handle the course best for your dog. Plus having music helps me to keep my mouth shut, which stops me being the thing I hate most.

My agility playlist is pretty similar to my running one, but with less heavy and aggressive songs and more rap and dance. I like to bob along while course walking, putting some dance moves into my handling (yes I’m that weirdo). I’ve got 21 songs on my agility playlist at the moment but I’m just going to pick my Top 10 to share with you.

1. It’s My Life – Bon Jovi
2. Remember the Name – Fort Minor
3. Phenomenal – Eminem
4. Party Rock Anthem – LMFAO
5. Whisky Story – Example
6. Jump Around – House of Pain
7. Play Hard – David Guetta
8. Centuries – Fall Out Boy
9. The Nights – Avicii
10. I Gotta Feeling – Black Eyed Peas

It’s always changing! As much as I love music I easily get bored with the same songs.
